Two computers
Your license activates on two computers by default, so you can run CutlassEdge on, say, a desktop and a laptop. Each activation is called a Seat.
Activating
On first run you paste your license key and click Activate (covered in Install and first run). Activation is a one-time online step that ties that Seat to that specific computer. Once it succeeds, the app runs offline day to day.
Moving to a new computer
Both seats in use, and you want to switch machines? On the computer you are finished with, open Settings and click Deactivate to free its seat, then activate on the new one. It is self-serve, so you do not need to ask anyone. If you see "Already active on the maximum number of computers," that just means both seats are in use; free one first.
If the old computer is dead, lost, or wiped and you cannot deactivate it yourself, email support@cutlassedge.com and we will free the seat for you.
One thing to know when you switch machines: your workspaces, notes, drawings, and alerts live on each computer, and nothing syncs between your two seats. To carry them over, use Settings > Backup > Export on the old computer and Import on the new one.
Working offline
After the one-time activation, CutlassEdge works offline. It re-checks your license quietly whenever it can, and it keeps working offline for up to 30 days between successful check-ins. A brief network drop never locks you out. If it cannot re-check within that window, the app locks until the next successful check-in, so you just get back online and it picks up where it left off. Connecting once every few weeks is more than enough.
Fair-use limits
The license is for you and your own trading analysis, including an account you hold through a company you solely own. It is not for sharing or reselling. To keep that fair, there is a light limit on how often a seat can move: up to three seat moves in any 30-day period on your own, and support can help beyond that if you have a genuine reason, like a run of dead machines. Sharing, leaking, or reselling a key can get it revoked.
What activation sends
Activation is about your license, not your trading. CutlassEdge is local-first: your market data, charts, workspaces, journals, and settings all stay on your computer, and we never receive them. The only things that reach us are your license activation records, update checks, and any diagnostics or feedback you choose to send. There is more detail in the Privacy Policy.
