What counts as confluence
Confluence reads the same untested levels you already see on the Magnet map, so the two always agree. It looks across:
- The magnet levels: naked VPOCs, poor highs and lows, gaps, and low volume nodes. (A naked POC on its own is not counted here; only the volume-based naked VPOC is.)
- The prior week's value area.
- Weak references and single prints.
Wherever several of these land within four ticks of one another, that is a cluster.
The key idea, in the app's own words: *More distinct kinds = more independent evidence at one price.* A pile of the same kind of level is just a level. A stack of different kinds, say a naked VPOC and a poor high and last week's VAL all within a few ticks, is confluence, because each kind is a separate reason the market might react there.
Where to find it
Open the Crow's Nest (the reading panel) and go to the Levels tab. The Confluence score section sits near the top, above the Magnet map, and it is always there. When nothing is stacking, it simply reads "No clusters right now."
Reading a cluster
Each cluster row shows:
- The price range the cluster spans.
- N refs, K kinds: how many references stacked there, and how many distinct kinds.
- The kinds themselves, joined together (for example, nVPOC + poor high + weekly VAL).
- Where it sits: at price, or so many ticks above or below.
They are ranked by evidence: the most distinct kinds first, then the most references, then the nearest. Click any cluster to drop a line at its center.
Where the "score" comes from
There is no black box here. The strength of a confluence area is simply how much independent evidence stacks at it: distinct kinds first, then the count. Two references of the same kind is thin. Four references of four different kinds at one price is a real shelf. The app ranks the clusters on exactly that, so the top of the list is the strongest.
How to use it
Confluence marks where several pieces of structure agree, so those prices are worth watching. The same rule from the magnet page still applies, though: while the market is trending, even a strong confluence shelf is a target on the way, not a wall to fade. Confluence tells you where structure is stacked; the day's state tells you whether that matters yet. As with everything in the reading layer, it is a read, the same for every user, not a signal to act on.
Alerts
You can have CutlassEdge tell you when price reaches one. Turn on Confluence clusters in the alert settings, and it fires when price trades into a cluster.
